TTA Transport Industry Conference, Wed 16 August, Paranaple Centre, Devonport
The Tasmanian Transport Association is pleased to announce an industry conference day, with state and national speakers, to be held:

This conference day will include sessions on
- Heavy vehicle safety including research into heavy vehicle rollovers, new resources for drivers and businesses to support rollover awareness, understanding of technology and how this reduces rollovers; with Adam Gibson (NTI), Rachel Michaud (Knorr-Bremse), and Wade Lewis (NSW LRBCA)
- Workforce challenges and what TTA is doing to address these, including the Heavy Vehicle Driver Apprenticeship, VET in Schools programs, and an industry promotions campaign
- An update on physical and mental health initiatives including Barb Walters of RAW on the Open Road program, funded through the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative program, and TTA’s Driver Health Discussion Group work on unpacking issues with Fitness to Drive Medicals
- A special lunch session hosted by Crime Stoppers Tasmania, exploring how supply chain parties can assist in crime prevention – with Australian Federal Police, Border Force, and Tasmania Police
- A keynote session with WA Senator Glenn Sterle, and ARTIO Queensland’s Gary Mahon, taking a deep dive into the Australian Government’s workplace reform program, including how the recommendations from the report: Without Trucks Australia Stops – the importance of a safe, viable and sustainable road transport industry, will be advanced
- An update on superannuation matters, with Nick Sherry, Chairman of the TWUSUPER fund
- Update on NHVR Compliance activities in Tasmania
- Department of State Growth Report, covering access, rest areas, and what’s ahead including the Bass Highway upgrades, with Elspeth Moroni and Simon Buxton.
Following the day conference, TTA in partnership with TWUSUPER, is hosting a dinner with the TTA Board with a presentation from Edward Smith, the Chief Investment Officer with TWUSUPER – the superannuation fund behind the people who keep Australia moving. Places are limited at the dinner event.
